This 17th century, luxury, boutique hotel is the only 4-star hotel in the centre of Lancaster, and is superbly situated in the heart of the city centre. The hotel was originally built in the 17th century and is the oldest bar/hotel still operating in Lancaster. Pros: Perfect location, however parking a bit of an issue. Lovely atmosphere, gorgeous food and great room. Awesome bed.

Would come back.

Pros: Upon arrival the staff (Kai and colleague) were friendly, welcoming and helpful. A very comfortable room with all you'd need for an overnight stay. A great location in the middle of the city. Breakfast was sufficient and a warm welcome extended by Tim. I would recommend a stay here.

Cons: In a modern hotel such as this, a higher quality TV would've been nicer (I know it's a bit picky, but an observation).

Friendly hotel with lots of history, right in the middle of Lancaster

Pros: This is a characterful hotel above a pub. The room looked good and the bathroom was a reasonable size, with really nice soap / shower gel. The bed was comfortable and we were pleased with the location, which was right in the city centre. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Gorgeous historic hotel in the heart of the city

Pros: The Sun is a beautiful property with a historic charm that flows through the pub to the hotel rooms. I have stayed several times and find the staff to be lovely and helpful. The rooms are nice and very comfy!

Nice generous and comfortable room above a pleasant pub.

Pros: There was a mixup with our booking but the staff upgraded our room. The bar was conviennent for a late supper when we arrived late.

A day of disrupted travel resulted in me finding this gem, made my delay more than enjoyable

Pros: Really friendly staff, warm welcome and cosy atmosphere. Had an amazing nights sleep , comfortable bed, well appointed room (room 15) , No street noise. Lovely shower. Good food.
