Royal Oak Pub

Pros: Friendly, welcoming staff. Great room, spotlessly clean and excellent location.

Pros: The staff were lovely, the room was so cozy, and once the pub was shut downstairs, it was incredibly quiet. I would happily stay again.

Cons: The only issue was that the window in the bathroom wouldn't open (and no extractor fan). So it took ages for the steam to clear. Other than that, perfect.

Pros: Room and location Food/Sunday lunch was excellent

Wonderful find in the Lakes!

Pros: Lovely pub with rooms above - comfortable beds, good shower pressure, delicious pub meals and friendly staff. We were a big fan of the Fell Brewery beers! Lovely spot to spend a few nights.

Cosy room, great stay.

Pros: Facilities were very good and the room was very clean. The shower was great. Perfect room for us as there is a lot to do in and around the village, so it’s a great place to freshen up/ keep everything. We had lunch at the pub, I would highly recommend it. I had a Barnsley Lamb Chop and it was delicious.

Cons: Can’t think of anything.

Pros: The location couldn't have been better! Right on the square, handy to walk everywhere in town. The staff, Ruth, Fred, Harvey (and another lady who I didn't catch her name) were all very hospitable and friendly. Ruth managed to fit us in for food before it got really busy and it was some of the best pub food we've had! The room was comfortable, I feel it was a little pricey but we now know that it was because Cartmell races were on and it's the biggest race of the year - we had no idea! Looking at prices for other times of the year, I think they're more reasonable so I put it down to this.

Cons: Very small things to suggest: 1) more milk with the coffee making facilities 2) a shelf in the bathroom for our toiletries 3) a tv in the room would be nice

Pros: Great room, comfortable and very clean. Great bathroom and shower. Good WiFi. No breakfast but we’ve stayed before so knew that. Warm and friendly welcome from bar staff.

Cons: No tv in room which for one night is ok and good WiFi so we could use iPad. Food in bar average at best.

Loved Cartmel, and next time we will come for the races.

Pros: Central location, large room was perfect and very staff friendly.

Cons: No breakfast is offered which was totally fine, but because the pub is then unmanned in the morning you effectively have to check yourself out via the rear fire exit.

Great for a stay after the races

Pros: Stayed after cartmel races, room nice size and very clean, bed very comfy. A few minutes walk from the race course. Greeted by a very cheerful man, even though the pub was very busy we were made to feel welcome.

Cons: No TV, didnt see anywhere it said this on the booking, i might have missed it though. This didnt really matter for a one night stay but if staying longer it may have been an issue.
