A good base for hikes around the Lake District
Pros: We arrived around 10:30 pm and easily found a parking space on the street in front of the house. Despite the darkness, locating the house was straightforward. Upon entering, we were pleasantly surprised. The house is very spacious, having a large kitchen and a small garden with a BBQ grill. The wooden floors, albeit a bit squeaky, add to the charm of the house given its age. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. We ensured to clean the house upon our departure, including the bins and dishes, hoping to provide the cleaners enough time to mop the floors for the next group of guests (see my comments about what we didn't like). Having a Londis convenience shop in front of the house was a great bonus
Cons: One aspect that disappointed us was the lack of toilet paper in all the bathrooms. While this might have been acceptable during the day, at 10 pm, options to purchase any were limited. However, there was soap available in the bathrooms, which was a small positive. Additionally, the floor on the ground floor was sticky, with leftover food residues around the dining table, indicating that it hadn't been cleaned or mopped after the last guests. We all wore slippers as walking in socks alone felt unhygienic. It appears that whoever cleaned the house did not do a thorough job.

lovely weekend escape to coast
Pros: deceptively spacious and well equipped house. catered for two families easily. on street parking but we didn’t have a problem. coast nearby, lovely sand dune walks with dog. nearby caravan park has bar / restaurant within easy walking distance and water sports. local shop across the road well stocked, two pubs on the same street. plenty to do but slightly away from crowds in the Lakes. had a lovely day out at Muncaster Castle.
