Great value hotel, good location and very comfortable rooms. A hidden gem in the centre of town.

Pros: Great location, staff very friendly and helpful as always and superb value for money. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom well equipped.

Bitter sweet - month-long deposit return saga ruined memory of comfy stay

Pros: Enjoyed everything - except being forced to wait a MONTH for return of 100 quid deposit taken from Visa card at check-in. 36 quid for a cold Sunday night in Liverpool city centre was a bargain for a ‘boutique’ hotel. Handy city centre location close to night life and Lime Street. Friendly scouse welcome, warm cosy room with big double bed, electric blinds, cool variable lighting, super shower with overhead drencher, fast internet, Steve McQueen on wall, champagne glasses, designer fridge packed with drinks … which caused a headache after check-out.

Cons: 100 pounds deposit was debited from my Visa card which took a month to be returned - the unnecessary hassle completely soured what was a highly enjoyable stay. Like hotels I’ve stayed in all over the world, I presumed my card would simply guarantee deposit …. not this hotel which debited 100 quid for the fridge contents - even though I didn’t consume anything because I had my own. A hotel message before check-in says the ‘pre-authorised deposit is automatically released on check-out. But depending on your bank takes on average 5-7 days to be returned.’ Hotel reception email said ‘we did not charge your card’. So why did it take a month for the 100 quid to be unblocked in my account? Hotel told me it was my bank’s fault and to complain to them. My dispute with Revolut wasn’t resolved until today - a month after my stay. Revolut message said merchant had issued a refund and the 100 quid finally reappeared in my account. Beware this questionable business practice!

Comfortable, Great Value, V central!

Pros: Was In Liverpool for an exam and was attracted to this place by the price and location: Would recommend - Excellent central location, clean and affordable rooms, handy to have fridge in room too, friendly staff.

Cons: Only drawbacks were that the aircon needing to be controlled via reception via text/email from us and the need for £100 security deposit which unfortunately ate up a large portion of my student budget
