Wagon & Horses

Right alongside the River Lune in central Lancaster, this traditional pub serves real ales and hearty full English breakfast. The shops of the city centre are just a 5-minute stroll along the river, and a picturesque cycling route passes by the building. Rooms at Wagon & Horses are elegant and traditionally furnished, with a flat-screen TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Each also has a work desk and an en suite bathroom with free toiletries. Wagon & Horses has a covered and heated courtyard, where you can sit outside in peace. The gastro pub serves home-cooked food made from local ingredients, and there is a wide-ranging wine list. Lancaster Cathedral can be reached in around 15 minutes on foot, and Lancaster Museum, on the market square, is less than 10 minutes’ walk away. The seaside resort town of Morecambe is 5 miles from the building.

Stop off on journey between Scotland and Kent

Pros: The staff were lovely, it was clean, fabulous freshly cooked breakfast and very dog friendly!

Cons: We weren’t aware that the kitchen closed at 6 pm on Sundays so couldn’t get dinner… probably my fault for not checking!

Pros: Room was quite small but very clean and cosy (very warm indeed - but fine once we truned the heating Down). aprking is just on the road - but that was OK

Cons: Brekfas towas Ok - a bit of confusion - had to state what you wanted the night before - my wife indicated she didn't want eggs with her avocado on toast she was asked in the morning and clarified that she didn't want eggs. she was then given 2 eggs. It wasn't a big issue and quite funny - we were in a bit of a rush so no time to amend - I had a lot of eggs!

very conformable, great location and friendly staff

Pros: breakfast was great. and staff were paticularly attentive. I got up very early to do some work and the were very helpful, letting me sit quietly in a corner with a coffee :-)

Cons: nothing. It was all good - comfy beds and good lighting and good selection of drinks in the room with fresh water

Good quality accommodation within walking distance of the town centre.

Pros: Friendly staff. Small but comfortable room, although the shower room was a bit compact. Excellent breakfast. Good location within easy walking distance of the town centre. Restaurant was closed for evening meals, but the French restaurant next door was excellent if a little pricey. That said, it served the best seafood we have eaten for a long time.

Cons: Both the room and the bathroom were a bit on the small side, but comfortable. No dedicated parking, but free overnight parking on the street outside the hotel.

Really enjoyable and made very welcome by all the team at the hotel.

Pros: Great location, very friendly staff and good breakfasts.

Cons: Slight gap in the bedroom door allows too much light in during the night.
